Privacy policy

The short version: BIFL Directory is a static website that collects no personal information, sets no advertising cookies, and does not track you across other sites. There are no accounts to create and nothing to log into. The detail is below.

What we don't collect

We don't ask for your name, email, or any personal details to browse the site. There are no user accounts, no newsletter sign-up harvesting your address, and no advertising or social-media trackers loading in the background. We do not sell, rent, or share personal data, because we don't collect it in the first place.

Analytics

To understand which pages are useful and roughly how many people visit, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It's privacy-first by design: it uses no cookies, does not fingerprint you, and does not build a profile of you across websites. It reports aggregate figures only (page views, referrers, and general location at the country level), never anything that identifies you personally. Cookies and local storage

This site sets no tracking cookies. The only thing we store on your device is your light/dark theme preference, kept in your browser's local storage so the site remembers your choice on your next visit. It never leaves your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser storage removes it, with no effect other than resetting the theme to its default.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like virtually every web host, Cloudflare's infrastructure may process standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) momentarily to deliver pages and protect against abuse. This is handled by Cloudflare under their privacy policy; we don't maintain our own server logs of your activity.

Links to other sites

BIFL Directory links out to Reddit discussions and to retailers and manufacturers where products can be bought. Once you follow a link, you're on someone else's site, governed by their privacy policy, not this one. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, how third-party sites handle your data.

Affiliate links

The site does not currently use affiliate links or earn commissions. If that changes, this section and the disclosure page will be updated to explain exactly how it works before any such links go live.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. Because the site is static and collects so little, material changes are expected to be rare.
