Why it's buy-it-for-life
Redditors report pairs lasting 9 to 35 years of daily use, including being left outside year-round, with footbeds showing little to no wear. Several note the older, Italian-made pairs held up far better than recent production, with some newer pairs shrinking, delaminating, or wearing out within a year.

My mom bought some Adiletten at the beach there... they're still around and they definitely look better than the pair I use for my yard that are around 5yo.

The new Adidas are junk. I left them out in the sun for a couple days. They shrank like 2 sizes. Then I gave them a wash and the white stripes completely dissolved off the shoe.

Man, the old pairs were built different. I bought a new pair and they feel awful, wish they would restore the quality.

I've had this same pair for 9 years. Look brand new.

I've been wearing this model for probably 35 years, over 7 or 8 pairs... nevertheless, the striped parts start to tear a bit where they connect with the footbed.

Adidas Adilette - 22 years old. Daily use and left outside.
Most unkillable sandles ever, but so damn stiff and uncomfortable.
Those footbeds have little to no sign of wear (no smoothing or imprints where the heel or toe would be)
Adidas adilette — the originals
These things are basically indestructible. My uncle had a pair that outlived two cars and a marriage
Too bad the Adilette comfort slides lasted me less than a year before the coating wore off at the heel, ball of the foot, and toes
