Pull-on leather Chelsea boots with an elastic side gusset, worn as an everyday work-to-casual boot.

Why it's buy-it-for-life
Redditors report years of daily wear (commonly 4-8+ years) before the leather or sole gives out, and Blundstone's warranty has replaced boots for free for some owners. Others report declining quality since manufacturing left Australia, soles that can't easily be resoled, and warranty claims going unanswered, so mileage varies a lot pair to pair.
What owners say
The original poster wore a single pair of Blundstones nearly every day for over 12 years — accounting for roughly 75-80% of their daily footwear — needing only two sole replacements over that span before the leather finally wore through at the pinky toes and the elastic gussets gave out. One top commenter suggests that rotating two pairs of the same boot, rather than wearing one pair down before buying a replacement, extends footwear life even further.

This year I bought Blundstone lug boots in black leather. I love them

Mine didn't last a year, but I wore them everyday.

You can't resole then and that's a huge issue.

Wore mine daily for about a year and a half. The soles disintegrated, Blundstone warranty won't respond, period.

Spiders, blundstones are as close to buy it for life, and feel most like crocs.

Blundestones are hot garbage now... My last pair didn't make it a year and a half of modest use. I have given up on the brand

My Blundstone Chelsea boots. Just amazing.

I really like my blundstones but they are probably my least BIFL boots.

I just retired my 5 year old, well used pair. Great boots, better than expected for the price. Would recommend

Blundstones all the way! I've had my pair now for close to 6 years with only small scratches and still waterproof.

They'll replace them for free if you fill out their warranty form.

I tried these shoes, but they are were so loose around the ankle/shin it really bothered me.

mine are about five years old and all I've needed to do is hit them with Skidmore's wax every now and again

Everyone raves about Blundstones. I have a pair.

I have had 2 pairs over the last 2 years. Both ripped on the outside where the leather top met the bottom. ... blundstone has replaced them all for free.

That's some solid mileage, 8 years of daily wear is no joke.

I just replaced my 10-year-old pair, I'd worn down to the midsole (and cracked it). ... my new pair is my fourth pair since 2001 or so.

Gotta plug Blundstones.

I usually go blundstone or I have the vagabond Chelsea boot that I find really comfy.

Blundstone, Original #2215 Women's High Top in the colour Camel. I could wear these all day everyday for the rest of my life.

I wear mine everday and dont really take care of them tbh, but they still look very nice. They just need a new footbed for like 10 EUR every two years.

Unfortunately, they haven't been BIFL since their manufacturing left Australia. Still, they're worth the price. They last a good 4 or 5 years of pretty dang heavy use.
- 1r/BuyItForLife comment
Hardly BIFL unless you're not doing work in them. One pair lasts me a season at our tree nursery.
- 1r/BuyItForLife comment
They generally last 5 years before the soles wear down. You can't easily resole, but they are my boot of choice.
- 1r/BuyItForLife comment
they feel like walking around with cinder blocks on my feet - stiff, ill fitting, weird toe feel... I'll burn through the soles in three years.

My new blundstone boots bought a week ago vs the pair i bought 8 years ago and wore nearly daily.
They're scuffed and not perfect but the soles are still in great shape and they are the best shoe for the PNW for about 8 months of the year!
After 12 years (or more) and 2 sole replacements ... the blundstones are finally done. I have wore these ever day in the winter and multiple days in the summer.
Not BIFL by any means... but they are super comfy. My only gripe is they stretch out a lot and your feet will swim in them, definitely size down.
3. Blundstone Chelsea boots (just had a cobbler add a midsole and new Vibram sole, should last another 10 years)
From boots, to jackets. Fjallraven, Bludstone. Make sure it's made in Europe.
