Why it's buy-it-for-life
Cast iron is effectively indestructible and improves with age as the seasoning builds. Redditors regularly cook on inherited Lodge and Griswold pans that are 50-plus years old, and even a rusted flea-market find can be stripped and re-seasoned back to new. Cheap enough to be a no-brainer BIFL purchase.

This pan is older than I am and cooks better than anything nonstick I've owned. Just keep it seasoned.
I picked up one of their cast iron pans one sale and haven't had issue with it. People talk down on them, but it's treated me just fine.
Good stuff is more expensive on day one (except cast iron, I think my lodge skillet cost $12), but it saves so much money in the long run
a newer lodge (pebbly)... it's honestly hard to see any difference in how they cook
Those lodge pans are no joke. My dad’s has been handed down and the thing is about 75 years old. Still going strong and he uses it for EVERYTHING
