Why it's buy-it-for-life
Redditors report bins lasting 9-20 years through daily use, power washing, sun exposure, and automated garbage-truck claws, with the manufacturer selling replacement wheels/lids. Some owners note plastic hinges or wheels eventually wearing out, and one reported Toter denying a warranty claim on a bear-resistant model after animal damage.

Had mine since 2006. Starting to see some wear from being automated, but still going strong

Toter does not stand behind their products. Purchased a Bear can and Bears immediately destroyed the handle/lock making the can useless.

The plastic hinges break

10 years of sun, trash, power washing, and their great. The wheels still spin, lids open nice
these don't last more than 5-10 years before garbage trucks destroy them
My buddy sells those! Love it!
Mine last 8-9 years. My garbage truck picks up cans with an automated claw. Overtime they crack the cans.
Damn wheel keeps popping off mine
9 years. Incredibly solid pieces
