Why it's buy-it-for-life
Mixed track record: some owners got 30+ years of service from a Kenmore washer with only a simple agitator cog swap, while others found the plastic outer tub grew brittle and cracked over time, making full replacement almost as costly as a new machine.

I have a Kenmore washer bought in 1993. I needed to replace the cogs on the agitator last year. Took me 10 minutes.

I finally had to replace the washer & dryer in 2023
Just bought an old 1992 Kenmore washer for cheap. Replaced one $4 seal and good to go. That thing is a monster.
I bought a Kenmore washer and dryer from Sears back in 2003. I've moved several times, both have had one minor repair each, and both are still going strong.
My mom is still using the same kenmore washer from 1988 so I'm hoping mine lasts that long too.
All I want is for someone to produce Kenmore Super Duty washers and dryers exactly like I bought from Sears when I was in college.
The old Kenmore top load worked great until the plastic outer tub cracked from being made of cheap plastic that gets brittle.
