Why it's buy-it-for-life
Redditors report Polk speakers from the early 1990s still sounding great 20-30+ years later across many moves, pets, and heavy use, often needing only minor maintenance like recapping crossovers or refoaming drivers. Experience is more mixed on newer subwoofer/soundbar models, with at least one report of subs failing within two years.

used as a Band PA system, left outside in negative temps and even rained on! Still sound incredible.

Bought Polk speakers for my Atmos system and both subs went out within two years to a seemingly very common problem. Polk sucks.

Purchased these in college and have been with me for 20+ years... still sound amazing!
Given their age, you may consider replacing the capacitors in the crossover... Check the Polk speaker forum for more information.
They could likely use a refoam if you haven't already. Most speakers will lose forever with proper maintenance
the old ones look and sound just as good as the new ones. As far as I'm concerned the brand is BIFL.
I bought a set in 2006. They work great.
These particular speakers aren't built to the best standard, but they should last provided you take care of them. You may need to replace drivers, capacitors, etc eventually.
