I spent my first bonus on a Sony Bravia XBR around that time. My FIL still uses it.
So my Sony Bravia purchased in ‘06 finally “died”. It took a $35 motherboard and a handy husband but it is now as good as new.
picture is extremely dim compared to modern TVs though, but it's still working OK as a bedroom set
Still have my 40" Bravia which I bought in July of 2007. It's my only TV and I watch it every evening.
Mine won't die either. 32", purchased in 2007, gone through 2 remotes, and it now permanently resides on my screened back deck.
It’s been playing FoxNews 24/7 for at least the past 15 years. The front firing audio is actually pretty nice.
my 46” Bravia is 20 years young and still perfect... its longevity is not a fluke.
