Why it's buy-it-for-life
An owner used their first one for about 8 years of near-daily 40-hour-a-week use before the wheel coating wore through, and calculated it as far cheaper per year of use than a Herman Miller Aeron.
What owners say
One owner used their original Autonomous chair for roughly 8 years of heavy daily use (about 40 hours a week for both work and gaming) before replacing it, and only did so because the rubberized coating on the wheels wore off and started damaging their floors. They found it comfortable enough for long sessions without body strain, and calculated the cost-per-year as far lower than a Herman Miller Aeron, even though Herman Miller offers a longer transferable warranty. Their conclusion was that the Autonomous chair lasted long enough to be worth it for their needs, even without the extra features of pricier chairs.

I love my Autonomous chair, highly adjustable with affordable price.
I got my first Autonomous chair 8 years ago, and just today decided it was finally time to replace it. Mostly because the rubberized coating on the wheels... has come off of every wheel at this point
