Buy once cry once, do what you can to buy the HM. If you buy a cheap chair it won't help and you'll buy another one in a few years. I'm at 10 years with my HM and it has really helped my back issues.

Herman Miller Aeron Chair - I work from home 2-3 times per week, best chair I've ever had
I tried the Aeron in store and instantly knew it wasn't for me. The arms move with the back... the hard perimeter of the mesh seat ring hurt my leg
the best middle ground is a used Aeron or equivalent, which will be around half the price
I personally hate hm aeron.
I've had one since 2002. The seating pan broke a few years ago and ordered the new part online and fixed it in 10 minutes.
